National Quality Infrastructure : Implementation of National Certification Body

Organized by the Department of Research and Innovation under the Ministry of Science and Technology, a Project on Strengthening National Quality Infrastructure and Implementation of National Certification Body for Certifying Products, Processes and Services was launched in Yangon on Thursday. The project will be implemented with the use of 2023 Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special.

At the ceremony, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw delivered an opening speech. It’s reported that once the project is implemented, national certification system for certifying products, processes and services will be developed.

Arrangements are underway to enact procedures and guidelines for the systematic registration and designation processes with the confirmations of National Certification Council. After the launching event, a Stakeholders Engagement Forum on Standards and Quality for Trade Facilitation and Industry Development followed, discussing the requirements by the stakeholders and ways for cooperation in certifying process.
