Pet dogs in the Philippines are being trained to aid search and rescue operations as the country braces itself for a potential major earthquake.

John Hrinyak, Pet Owner said "You hope that when something happens and it will, unfortunately, something, a disaster will strike, that we can be there to assist, to help others. If we can save lives, or even if it's just an animal, a single life that we can help is worth it.

And I hope that if the time comes, then I can be a part of that and help do that." Every Sunday, 46 mutts and pure-breeds of all sizes are put through their paces by volunteer trainers at a facility in suburban Manila where they learn to track down survivors, scale ladders and bound over wooden structures.
