Sixth Meeting of Sangha: 8th State Central Working Committee of Sangha

The 6th meeting of the 8th State Central Working Committee of Sangha continued its second day at Maha Pasana Cave in Yangon on Saturday.

The meeting made discussions on the reports of work undertakings of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee during the one-year period, with the focus on Winichcaya, Sasana, and education matters.

The meeting also announced the formation of the Substitution Supervisory Committee for Selecting the Chairman of State Central Working Committee of Sangha, by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. This was followed by the selection of the Chairman Sayadaw for the State Central Working Committee of Sangha.

The Presiding Sayadaw of the Supervisory Committee delivered a speech, stressing the need to select the Chairman Sayadaw in line with the basic principles of the Sangha Organization, upholding the patience, loving kindness, sympathy, rejoicing others’ success and detachment as per the admonishment of the Lord Buddha. The selection process then commenced with submission of the proposals and seconding the proposals.

The meeting announced the approval of selecting Agga Maha Pandhita Agga Maha Thadhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhandanta Sandhima Bhivamsa as the Chairman Sayadaw of State Central Working Committee of Sangha. The Sayadaw is 77 years of age with 57 years of monkhood.

The meeting also approved the selection of the Secretary Sayadaw of the Working Committee.
