Women’s affairs: Meetings of MNCWA and NSPAW held

The meeting of Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs (1/2024) and Advisory Meeting of National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (2013-2022) was held at Max Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on Tuesday and attended and given address by the Chairman of Leading Committee for drafting National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women NSPAW) Phase II (2013-2022) Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win.

In his opening speech, the Union Minister said the meeting is held to be able to ratify the on the drafting NSPAW Phase II (2023-2032) by receiving the comments and suggestions of the members and Leading Committee members of MNCWA, to include the opinion and stance of the women committee members of Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States and the ethnic literary and cultural committees and to share knowledge regarding with the CEDAW, NSPAW Phase II by the relevant committees from the women committees of Nay Pyi Taw, Regions and States and to implement the development works for the country with the force of the women who constitute over half of the country’s population.

Next, the status of completing the implementation of decisions made at the meeting (2/2023) of Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs was clarified by the Vice Chair of MNCWA Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and  6th CEDAW Report and NSPAW Phase II by the Director and the MNCWA member Deputy Ministers conducted discussion of giving suggestions.

Then, the secretary of MNCWA clarified regarding with the “Workshop on Strengthening National Mechanisms for Women's Development in ASEAN Countries”. After giving suggestions by the women committee members from the Regions and States, representatives of ethnic literary and cultural committees and the In-charges of Gender Affairs from the related departments, the meeting was concluded at 4:30 PM.
