Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin presided over a work coordination meeting on extended implementation of oil and natural gas projects at the Lower Myanmar Branch (Sein Le’ May) of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise in Yangon Region on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister stressed that the excavation of oil and natural gas is a high-risk enterprise which cost a lot. As the natural resources of the nation are limited resources, the experts and officials must be aware of the potential damage caused by excavations.

He encouraged the production of natural gas as a product instead of using it as a raw material.  Highlighting the decline in production volume of some of the current offshore natural gas projects, the Union Minister stressed the need to increase the production capacity of current projects and timely implementation of the new projects.

Then, the officials from the ministry and partner organizations presented reports on short and long term plans to increase the production of inland and offshore oil and natural gas projects and the Union Minister coordinated the needs.
