Work coordination meeting: Mon State Child Labour Eradication Committee held

A work coordination meeting of Mon State Child Labour Eradication Committee was held at the Mon State Government office in Mawlamying with the attendance of Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, state ministers, departmental officials and invited guests on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein in his capacity as a patron of the Mon State Child labour Eradication Committee stressed that according to 2019-2023 National Strategic Plan on child labour eradication, work implementations are being carried out to eliminate child labour in industrial and commerce sector of Kayin State, Mon State, Bago Region, Yangon Region and Ayeyawaddy Region among 15 initial project regions as a 1st 5-year project.

The sub-committees are urged to make concerted efforts collaborating with the relevant committees and organizations in eliminating child labour, he added.

Then, Chairman of the Mon State Child Labour Eradication Committee and secretary clarified the current work implementations of the committee on raising public awareness about child labour, amending laws to meet international standards, assigning duties, drafting further projects and reviewing the process.

Next, the 8 working committees presented reports on weakness, strength and difficulties encountered. Then, the state ministers supplemented the reports and Chief Minister coordinated necessities.
