1st day session: Peace Talks Team and Peace delegations hold meeting

A meeting between the Government Peace Talks Team and peace delegations led by Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP), the Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Alliance Army-NDAA and the Vice-Chairman-2 of the Shan State Progress Party-SSPP was held at the National Reconciliation and Peace Center in Nay Pyi Taw, Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister at the Union Government OfficeLt-Gen YarPyae who is also a member of the State Administration Council, Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee Leader of the State Peace Talks Team, SAC member Lt-Gen Moe MyintTun, the Secretary of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) Lt-Gen Min Naung, members of (NSPNC) Lt-Gen Min Naing, Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein, Lt-Gen Aye Win,Vice-Chairman of the UWSP U Lau Yaku, Head of Political Department of UWSP U Aik Nap Ling, Vice-Chairman U San Pae of the NDAA, General Secretary of NDAA U KyiMyint, Vice-Chairman-2 Sao KhunSai of the Shan State Progress Party-SSPP and Secretary-2 Sao Seng Hsu.

At the meeting, leader of the Peace Talks Team Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and on behalf of the ethnic armed organizations, Vice-Chairman of UWSP U Lau Yaku delivered opening remarks.  Member of NSPNC Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein clarified participation of intellectuals and intelligentsia, politicians, ethnic armed leaders in drafting 2008 Constitution by holding the National Convention and the list of Union legislation-Table 1 and the list of regional or state legislation-Table 2 in the 2008 Constitution.

The State Peace Talks Team also clarified the ways to implement on the political preferences of the UWSP and the NDAA as per the agreement of the 1st meeting. Afterwards, those attendees exchanged their views and opinions and adjourned the first-day meeting. The second day meeting will continue on 28th September.
