Central Census Commission held its 4 work coordination meeting for 2024 Nationwide Population and housing census at the Ministry of Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on 26th of April. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the commission, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, commission members and officials as well as Chairmen of Census Advisory committee via video conferencing.

In his speech, Commission Chairman Union Minister U Myint Kyaing said since Population and Housing Census is going to be conducted from 1st to 15th October 2024, it is approaching its scheduled time. As the census enumeration is the only one project that will be able to obtain important socio-economic information for setting State development projects and policies, it must be implemented successfully as a national responsibility.

In addition, it will be facilitated the last point of the five-point road map of the State Administration Council. As public participation plays a vital role in census enumeration, it is necessary to raise awareness about the census and its benefits.

He added that emphasis will be made no one left behind in the census and covering the all areas. According to current political and Security condition, officials have to make efforts in all possible ways, although facing challenges in conducting ground population enumeration. He urged all to work together to post a milestone for the government, as the current nationwide census is being carried out without international assistance.

Then Secretary(1) of the commission Deputy Minister U Htay Hlaing clarified the current. undertaking and future plans for the census, and officials reported the current and future plans for the process of census enumeration respectively.

At the meeting, regarding the preparation for Nationwide Census enumeration, training, and awareness campaign were also discussed. Afterwards, Awareness TV Spots to broadcast in TV Channels related to the census collection were screened. Next, chairman of the commission supplemented the necessaries and concluded the meeting.
