2nd Staff Families’ Thingyan Festival: Staff families of YGN Region Gov’t participated joyously

Hosted by the Yangon Region Government Office, the 2nd staff families’ Thingyan festival was held on 7th April.

The aims of celebrating Thingyan Festival are to preserve and cherish Myanmar traditional customs, to participate joyously in this seasonal festival and to serve the national duties with new and full strength. 

The visitors expressed that this is the most crowded and joyous festival at the post of COVID-19 pandemic.

Visitor, said " I’m so pleased to see that all visitors are participating Thingyan festival joyously and actively, overcoming their difficulties faced during COVID-19 period."

Visitor, said " I think today’s festival is the most crowded festival event I’ve ever been to. Special thanks to SAC Chairman Prime Minister and the responsible official who let to celebrate today’s event."

Visitor, said " I came to this festival with my son and today’s festival is more teeming than expected. I have plans to participate again next year if such kind of event was celebrated coming year. I’m really happy to freely participate this Thingyan festival."

Along with the splashing of water, charity feasts were also served to the visitors. Most of the foods were Thingyan traditional snacks.

Visitor, said " I’m so proud for Myanmar people’s sincerity and also glad to see that all staff families are happily participating this festival. 10 kinds of Thingyan foods and Myanmar traditional local foods are freely served to festive comers. Wish all Myanmar citizens to possess happiness and peacefulness starting from this New Year."

Thingyan or water throwing festival is one of the popular festivals that usually occurs in the middle of April among Myanmar people. It’s also a symbol of Myanmar New Year and most significant annual festival celebrated over a period for 4 to 5 days.
