31st SEA Games: 12 Athletes Of Rowing Team To Participate In The Event

The athletes of international rowing team are training at the Myanmar Rowing & Canoeing Federation in Yangon to participate in the 31stSoutheast Asian Games hosted by Vietnam from 12th to 23rd May.

12 athletes including 6 males and 6 females from rowing team are being conducted intensive trainings by coaches to compete in the 31st SEA Games.

ZawLwinTun, Coach, Myanmar Rowing & Canoeing Federation said “We selected the rowers based on their height and body structure. For the training, they practice in the morning and evening, 2 times per day except Sundays. We have trained all the rowers’ abilities, stamina and techniques for the SEA Games.The competition will be held from May 9th to 14th and our national teamshope to bring the achieving results at the 31st SEA Games.”

Myanmar rowing national team expects 3 medals according to previous records. The athletes are also training to win the gold medals to take pride for the nation.

Athlete, Shwe Zin Latt said “I have been starting the rowing practice since I was 17 and I won gold, silver and bronze medals in previous competitions. In this SEA games, we must compete with Vietnam and Indonesia as the opponents. I expect to grab the highest award depending on my training.”

Myanmar national rowing team will compete in 6 events of 2000 meters, such as Freestyle Men’s Double Sculls, Light Weight Men’s Double  and Pairs Double Sculls, Female’s Double and Pairs Double Sculls and Light Weight Women’s Pairs Double Sculls.
