Agriculture Development: Union Minister inspects irrigation facilities in Tatkone

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung accompanied by Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw and departmental officials made an inspection tour in Tatkone Township on November 18.

There, the Union Minister inspected the supply of irrigating water to 70 acres plantation using solar-powered water pumping system and extracting undergroundwater from tube wells in NweYit Village.

Then, the Union Minister met with the local farmers and urged them to make exerted effort to produce qualified agri products and to accelerate triple cropping.

Then, the Union Minister and party inspected supplying agricultural water by extracting underground water in ShoukKone Village. Then, the Union Minister and the Deputy Minister provided Yezin hybrid sunflower seeds to Water Users Group and sunflower growers.

Then, he provided necessary instructions to work in cooperation with the Agriculture Department for soil quality maintenance including the use of natural fertilizer in order to prevent from soil damage due to year-round engagement in agriculture works.

It’s learnt that one water storage tank and 32 agricultural wells were constructed in ShoukKone, Ponnamar, NweYit, Kyar Thay Eai and Yway Su villages of Tatkone Township and a total of 995 acres plantation are being irrigated. 1 water storage tank and 2 agricultural wells are under construction.

It’s reported that once the construction of targeted 47 wells is completed, a total of 1,485 acres plantations will be irrigated sufficiently.
