ASEAN Affairs: Union Minister attends Health Ministers’ Meeting in Jakarta

A delegation led by Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win on Friday joined the 2nd day of the ASEAN Health Ministers’ Meeting in Jakarta of Indonesia together with health ministers and deputy ministers from ASEAN member countries, African Union, 2023 G20 Health Working Group, WHO South East Asia Region, 2023 G7 Health Working Group and APEC and many other concerned officials.

The meeting was focused on implementation process for better health care systems for long term control of COVID-19 and aid for ASEAN member countries.

During the meeting, Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win said that Myanmar has overcome the COVID-19 pandemic successfully under the supervision of the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19 and COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee.

The Myanmar COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan is being implemented to fix socio-economic life of the people. He also said that construction process of the Myanmar Center for Disease Control in Nay Pyi Taw will be completed soon and it is one of the special centers to control infectious diseases and epidemic which may occur in the future.

This 2nd day meeting was concluded by approving the “Call For Action” statement which will be reported in the upcoming ASEAN Summit.
