Bilateral Cooperation: MoRAC Union Minister receives Thai delegation

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko received a delegation led by Thai Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Mongkol Visitstump at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

At the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture is mainly undertaking for propagation of Theravada Buddhism and preserving Myanmar traditional cultural heritage and it is willing to implement the cultural exchange through Myanmar-Thai cooperation as well as cooperate among the universities, archaelogical museums and museum tasks.

He also invited the people and monks from Thailand to make learning in the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary Univserity. The Thai Ambassador also said that Thailand will attend the traditional dance festival of Mekong-Lancang to be hosted by Myanmar on 19th January in 2023 and also willing to take part in the same festivals to be held by Myanmar.

Through cooperation, the friendly relations between the two countries will promote more. He expressed his pride on active participation of the Ministry on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Independence Day celebration held in Myanmar. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture of Myanmar is participating in the national festivals in Thailand.

He said that Thailand would like to hold the festivals through bilateral cooperation as the COVID-19 pandemic can be controlled to a certain extent and they would like to cooperate for the development of tourism industry. The two sides mainly disucssed on cooperation in religious and culture sectors of the two countrie.
