Coordination meeting: Meeting to form Organizing Committee for MDMA held

A coordination meeting of Organizing Committee for Myanmar Digital Media Association was held at the Film Promotion Division of Information and Public Relations Department in Bahan Township, Yangon at 1 PM on 18th March and attended by the Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn.

Speaking at the meeting, the Union Minister said that the utilization, creation and uploading of digital media including social media are increasing in timely manner and its influence is being extended over Myanmar societies considerably.

A regulating is needed in such situation. Today in the world including Myanmar, the digital media is overwhelming other traditional media, not only its sphere of influence on the public not only is being extended enormously and but also, it’s growing economically.

The use of digital media including social media is growing rapidly within a few years in Myanmar due to the increase of using mobile phone and internet. That is why, the digital technology and digital media play the viral role in the media platform of Myanmar.

That demands an association represents all stakeholders in digital media industry to form. So, the Ministry of Information forms “Organizing Committee for Myanmar Digital Media Association”. All are urged to implement “Organizing Committee for Myanmar Myanmar Digital Media Association” to have systematic development in line with the changing technology and promote the interest of digital media users, systematic utilization of digital media in accordance with the ethics and etiquette, managing the educating system and technical sharing and settling through negotiation by both sides if the dispute or complaint arises between the digital media users.

Next, the Director General of the Information and Public Relations Department clarified the arrangements to form Organizing Committee for Myanmar Digital Media Association. After giving necessary suggestions by the attendees to the meeting for Organizing Committee for Myanmar Digital Media Association, the Union Minister gave a speech of conclusion.
