COVID-19 Report: 23 New Cases Reported At 8 p.m. On May 12

Ministry of Health and Sports reported 23 new COVID-19 cases at 8 p.m. on Wednesday after testing 1,471 lab specimens within 24 hours while 1 COVID-19 patient lost life due to the disease. And, 14 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

COVID-19 confirmed cases in Myanmar have reached 142,997 with 3,211 deaths, and, 132,064 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospitals. The public’s cooperation is requested to address wearing mask systematically when it comes to go outside, frequent washing hands and social distancing to control the spreading of COVID-19, MOHS instructions for office/department staff and everybody and every family’s active cooperation as the COVID-19 preventive measures including giving notice and reminding each other and family plan.

The World’s worst-hit countries are United States of America, India, Brazil, France, Turkey, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Germany, according to the World Health Organization. Globally, as of 6:00pm CEST, 12 May 2021, there have been over 159 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, including over 3.31 million deaths, reported to WHO. 

Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems are more likely to develop serious illness.
