Departure for China: Human resource development and migrant affairs

Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung left for China on Wednesday to attend the ASEAN-China Forum on Cooperation in Human Resource Development and Services, to be held in Nanning of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The forum aims to foster cooperation and exchange views on human resource development for economic recovery among China and ASEAN member states. Jointly organized by the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Guangxi Government, the forum will be held under the theme "Gathering Wisdom, Sharing Opportunities, and Building a Bright Future Together" from the 3rd to 4th of November.

During a transit stop in Thailand on his way to China, Union Minister U MyintNaung met with the Ministry of Labour of Thailand, Mr. PhiphatRatchakitprakarn, and officials at Suvarnabhumi International Airport to discuss Myanmar migrant affairs.

They deliberated on signing an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for bilateral cooperation in labor affairs, the implementation of sending new laborers under the MOU, as well as old laborers under the MOU U-turn system, issuing the Pink Card for temporary stay in Thailand, and plans for allowing Myanmar migrants with the Certificate of Identity – CI.
