Early Childhood Care & Development: Central Supervision Body holds meeting

The Central Supervision Body for the Early Childhood Care and Development held its work coordination meeting at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. At the event, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine said that the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) tasks are deep and broad.

Although the Ministries are putting implementation of day nursery schools, primary schools, community and home based activities across the nation in the projects according to the yearly financial budget, the coverage of ECCD including private and NGOs has just only 24.37 percent and so that it is less by percentage.

The Union Minister stressed on nurturing more nursery school teachers, those who care children and instructors by opening nursery teacher trainings. Later, the Director General of the Department of Social Welfare clarified progress of early childhood care and development programs, assistance programs, drafting financial procedures by the ECCD Central Supervisory Body and work programs being undertaken for getting NSSA recognition certificate.

The deputy minister, the permanent secretary and the central supervision body members reviewed future work programs. The Union Minister called for making efforts to develop all children in line with the early childhood care and development methods.
