Ecotourism Sector: SAC Member Opens Ecotourism Project On Manaung Island

Member of the State Administration Council (SAC) Daw Aye Nu Sein, union ministers, Rakhine State Chief Minister and many other officials ceremonially opened the ecotourism project on Manaung Island on Wednesday.

The opening ceremony was conducted along with the Rakhine traditional drum beating. It continued with a Rakhine traditional performance and cash awards presenting. Also, the SAC member and officials ceremonially opened the Manaung Island Resort on Kaei Beach with the Rakhine traditional drum beating.

In her address, the SAC member highlighted the objectives of Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone implementation and Manaung Island Ecotourism Development Master Plan implementation. She stressed that Manaung Island Resort and community-based tourism site in Pyinkauk Village is part 1 of the Manaung Island Ecotourism Project. It’s an honour to have implemented the Project due to the assistance by Rakhine State Government and cooperation with the locals.

 Also, Rakhine State Chief Minister called for cooperation on the successful implementation of the Manaung Island Ecotourism Master Plan. It’s learnt that under the Manaung Island Ecotourism Master Plan, a hotel project with 150 rooms is set to be implemented and Manaung Island Resort with 33 rooms is part of the Plan. The community-based tourism site in Pyinkauk Village can give service to 24 tourists.
