Historic Buildings Maintenance: SG Inspects Maintenance Of National Convention Buildings

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing together with SAC member Admiral Tin Aung San, Joint Secretary of the Council Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo and officials inspected Pyidaungsu Hall on Wednesday where the National Convention was held to draft the Constitution (2008) near NyaungHnapin village, Hlegu Township, Yangon Region.

On arrival at the Pyidaungsu Hall, Union Minister for Construction U Shwe Lay reported on the history of the buildings that the National Convention was held, damage parts of the buildings and preparations for maintenance. In response to the report, the Senior General said that these were historic buildings where the Constitution (2008) which is important for the State was drawn.

These historic buildings were maintained as much as possible in successive eras. Due to weakness in maintenance, the damaged parts have come out. Emphasis must be placed on maintenance for the long-term existence of buildings. Later, the Senior General and party conducted around Pyidaungsu Hall and AnawrahtaYeiktha and gave necessary instructions. The National Convention was convened at the Pyidaungsu Hall seven times with the participation of 702 delegates from eight groups from 2004 to 2007 in order to approve the Constitution (2008).

After approving the constitution, it was no longer to use the hall. The venue where the National Convention was convened is located on 585.81acres of land, 200 acres of which are designated as the agricultural zone and 100 more acres as the livestock zone.

As maintenance is weak, some parts are damaged. Now, the buildings will be placed under maintenance. The Senior General and party then proceeded to NyaungHnapin Agriculture and Livestock Special Zone and heard reports on implementations of the zone.

In response to the reports, the Senior General said that that previous Tatmadaw governments in successive eras have been implementing agriculture and livestock farming works in respective zones for greening the 30-mile radius area of Yangon City and for local people to have good food supplies. Nyaunghnapin agriculture and livestock special zone are engaged in the cultivation of crops and perennial crops for food supplies and grow the vegetables successfully. Efforts must be made for the successful undertaking of agriculture and livestock tasks to produce meat, fish and vegetables for the people to consume products at cheap prices.

The Senior General and party then inspected an organic vegetable plantation being operated by the Agriculture Department and SeinLan Cooperative Society in the zone and the poultry farm of CJ Feed Myanmar.
