Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw conducted a visit to the Htawkanut Downstream Slide Gate in Wakema of Myaung Mya District in Ayeyawady Region on Sunday.
During the visit, officials provided a report on the operation and maintenance of the slide gate. The Deputy Minister offered instructions for necessary maintenance and improvements.
The Htawkanut Downstream Slide Gate was constructed during the fiscal year 1982-1983 with the purpose of managing the water inflow and outflow of the main canal of the Shwe Laung Island circular embankment.
The gate features an over 1,800-foot-long water intake canal, an irrigation canal extending over 23,000 feet, four sluice gates measuring 15 feet in width and 6 feet in height, as well as an entrance and exit gate for boats.
This infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting over 5,800 farmland areas for summer paddy cultivation.
