Peace Process: Peace Talks Team, UWSP, NDAA, SSPP Hold Peace Talks

The Government’s Peace Talks Team and peace delegations led by Vice-Chairman of the United Wa State Party (UWSP), Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) and  Vice-Chairman 2 of the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) held the 2nd day peace talks on Wednesday.

The meeting at the National Reconciliation  and Peace Center in Nay Pyi Taw was attended by Union Minister at the Union Government Office Lt-Gen Yar Pyae who is also a member of the State Administration Council (SAC), Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and Leader of the State Peace Talks Team, SAC member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Secretary of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) Lt-Gen Min Naung, members of the NSPNC Lt-Gen Min Naing, Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein, Lt-Gen Aye Win, Vice-Chairman of the UWSP U Lau Yaku, Head of Political Department of the UWSP U Aik Nap Ling, Vice-Chairman U San Pae of the NDAA, General Secretary of the NDAA U Kyi Myint, Vice-Chairman 2 Sao Khun Sai of the SSPP and Secretary 2 Sao Seng Hsu. During this 2nd day peace talks, Secretary of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) Lt-Gen Min Naung clarified the processes which the NCA signatories agreed with for the period beyond 2020 and implementation of the processes (Table-2).

The Government’s Peace Talks Team and the UWSP, NDAA and SSPP peace delegations made discussions on the processes and implementation.

They also exchanged views on the facts of the 2008 Constitution to be amended. The 3rd day peace talks is set to take place on September 29.
