Regional Development: MOSWRR UM attends ceremonies in NPT

A ceremony to provide disability allowance to those who have received disability registration certificates was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Tuesday.

At the event, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and resettlement Dr Soe Win said that classification of disabilities and registration process has started in 2022-23 Fiscal Year and now during the period of 2023-24, it has been continuing in 10 townships. Achieving the statistics of disabilities could facilitate in setting down the policies of the country for people with disabilities.

In return, Nay Pyi Taw Council Member U Myin Soe and Principal of Nay Pyi Taw Association for Person with Disabilities Daw Khin Thida Tun spoke words of thanks. Next, disability allowance and registration certificates were provided to administrators from the townships of Uttarathiri and Zabuthiri and PWDs representatives.

At the ceremony, a total of 7.59 million kyats were provided to 253 people with disabilities with 30,000 kyats per one including 164 from Uttara Thiri Township and 89 from Zabuthiri Township and till to date, total was 1.212 billion kyats were able to provide for 39,268 PWDs.

In the afternoon, a ceremony of providing cash assistance for Mocha cyclone victims was held at the ministry. At the occasion, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Lwin Oo explained about the donation saying that it was contributed by Lao PDR with 50,000 USD, Mr. Ahn Jae Yound from Republic of Korea with 738 USD and Myanmar people from Singapore with 600 USD respectively.

The Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement gave back words of thanks and gave the certificates of honor. Afterwards, the completion ceremony of Early Childhood Care and Development which is aiming to be able to open baby day care centers at the ministries in Nay Pyi Taw council area was held along with the presence of the Union Minister saying the trainees that assisting mothers who are working at the respective departments and caring their babies means precious and play vital role for turning out the valuable future generations for the country and are urged to put good intention.

Then, completion certificates were presented and one of the trainees gave words of thanks. The Union Minister and party also observed the handmade items of the trainees.
