State Oil Reserve: Meiktila District Stores Palm Oil

A total of 12,470 containers with palm oil for the state oil reserve have been stored in Meiktila District of Mandalay Region, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs.

The oil reserve scheme is for emergency case during the coronavirus pandemic. The state is buying 12,000 tonnes of oil in cooperation with the relevant departments, oil millers and traders.

In order to ensure the self-sufficiency during the COVID-19 pandemic, the government planned to spend 38 billion Kyats to purchase 50,000 tonnes of rice and 12,000 tonnes of palm oil, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
