Tourism Promotion: Transforming Tourism Through Digital Marketing In Tourism Sector

The ASEAN-Korea Center is scheduled to hold a tourism capacity building workshop under the theme, “Transforming tourism through digital marketing” on 5th of December in Nay Pyi Taw. 

Ahead of the workshop, a Business Networking luncheon took place in Yangon on Wednesday. 

Secretary General of ASEAN-Korea Center Mr. Lee Hyuk, the representatives from Myanmar tourism industry and media personnel joined the luncheon.

The Secretary General highlighted that this center is not only for promoting Korea as a tourist destination to Myanmar people but also focuses on introducing Myanmar as a very attractive tourist destination among the Korean people.

Secretary General, ASEAN-Korea Center, H.E. Lee Hyuk said “I hope that through workshop tourism industry in Myanmar learn lots about Korean tourists and has a deepest understanding of what Korea tourist like so that Myanmar tourism industry can develop the program which fix the Korean tourist…So, our aim is just to introduce different parts and different places of Myanmar to the Korean people so by means of making video clips, making feature articles about Myanmar tourism.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-Korea relations as well as 10th anniversary the ASEAN-Korea Center.

The center also arranges the media FAM tour for tourism promotion in Myanmar, by filming the tourist destinations in Yangon, Bagan and Inle.

Director, International & Regional Cooperation Department (MHT), Hla Myint said “Digital marketing is very important so we need to do more effectively for tourism industry in Myanmar through this way. We are also working together with ASEAN-Korea Center, ASEAN-China Center, ASEAN-Japan Center for tourism industry promotion and quality tourism. Visa on arrival was also granted to Asian and Western countries including Korea and Japan.  The tourists arrival is increased. Chinese tourists are the most visitors to Myanmar, and Thailand is the second most, followed by Japan and Korea.”

As of September this year, 3.15 million tourists visited Myanmar, and the arrival of Korean tourists is 80,0000, increasing 79%.
