Workshop on Restricted Chemicals: CCDAC organized workshop on restricted chemicals

The workshop on supervision of restricted chemicals was held at the Arreindama Hall of Myanmar Police Force Headquarters on 6 April, 2023 with the attendance of SAC members Chairman of Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt. Gen. Soe Htut, committee members and senior officials.

In his opening speech, the Chair of (CCDAC) said that the State Administration Council, in exercising the authorities vested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law (1993), formed a central committee presiding by the Prime Minister Union Minister for Home Affairs with 19 members.

The 11 work committees were conducted reformation in line with the requirements of the tasks. Among the 11 work committees, the restricted chemicals supervisory committee was formed as well as the Regions and States restricted chemicals inspection teams and the importing, exporting, storing, carrying and trading and producing products are being supervised.

Only the way of control and combating cannot work to mitigate the producing narcotic drugs, the restricting of precursor chemicals is important. As the saying goes, “without precursors, there are no narcotic drugs and without users, there are no narcotic drugs”the cooperation of the regional countries as well as international organizations is needed. As the drug precursor chemicals and other substances is flowing into the Shan State through the border areas and internal regions, the ‘Operation 39’Special Operation is being conducted across the nation as of 1st February to 31st May, 2023.

During the Operation 39’ Special Operation, it’s revealed that thare are requirements regarding withthe by-law, amount of distribution and the importing, carrying, using and sellingcontroled chemicals. So, the workshop on supervision of restricted chemicals is organized by the Central Committee on Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC).CCDAC secretary Deputy Minister for Home Affairs, Chief of Myanmar Police Force Ma-J Gen. Zin Min Htet reported the status of information exchanging with neighboring countries, regional countries, international drugs combating agencies including UNODC, conducting capacity building trainings and bilateral meeting, conditions of cooperation  with Tatmadaw, relevant departments and international organizations in line with the existing law and procedures, status of capturing precursor chemicals, restricted and non-restricted chemicals and urged to take part in the collective discussion for the requirements as per the respective departments.

Next, the Chair of Controlled Chemicals supervisory committee Deputy Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Ma-J Aung Naing Thu, joint-secretary of CCDAC Commander of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Police Brigadier General Win Naing, Dr. Kyi Min Oo and Dr. Aung Phyo Theik from Nay Pyi Taw Chemicals Examining Division discussed necessary topics and the attendees took part in the discussions of related sectors.The workshop will take place till 7th of April.
