YPS cards users on the rise: Services to provide safety of public transportation

Aiming for the convenience of public transportation, about 3,500 vehicles from 20 YBS companies and 128 bus lines are currently running in Yangon Region. YBS passengers make their payments, using YPS (Yangon Payment Service) cards and now, it reaches to more than 50,000 YPS card users, it’s learnt.

Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang, said " More than 2,600 POS machines have been equipped in over 5,000 vehicles. For the widespread use of YPS cards in all YBS vehicles, plans are underway to install POS machines in all YBS buses across the Yangon with the cooperation of Asia Starmark Transport Intelligent Co., Ltd (ASTI). In current situation, YPS cards can be used in more than 60 bus lines and can be sold to 150,000 customers in hand."

More than 50,000 regular customers are using YPS cards. By using YPS cards, it can be solved most of the problems such as  the money change problem, COVID-19 transmission by cash paper,  counting cash and receiving fully fares payment. 

Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee, Lian Cin Mang, said " With the guidance of the Yangon Region Government, we, YRTC is trying hard for providing safe public transportation to all. During 2023, about 3,500 vehicles from 117 bus lines carrying 1.4 million passengers are operating on daily basis."

Plans are being undertaken to install POS machines in all YBS vehicles and YRTC (Yangon Region Public Transport Committee) is also working to provide the fully service regarding with the safe public transportation.
