In recent social media posts, the Ayeyarwaddy Times spread false information that a 9-year-old child had died, and six others were injured in Letpanchaung Village due to a heavy weapon attack by the Tatmadaw on January 3rd.

However, a local resident denied the occurrence of such an event, stating that there was no recent exchange of fire in the nearby areas. The villager added that attacks by PDF terrorists, employing improvised mortars and drones, were reported, but local villagers continued their normal routines, particularly engaging in paddy harvesting activities.

In another incident, Khit Thit Media reported that four people, including three children, were injured in Upper Kanthaya Village of Maungdaw Township on January 4th due to a heavy weapon launch by the Tatmadaw. A local security personnel member refuted this claim, explaining that the injuries sustained by local residents were a result of heavy weapon attacks by AA insurgents.
