In order to ensure local edible oil sufficiency and to accelerate import substitution production using modern technologies and equipment, a Rice Bran Oil and Edible Oil Mill is being constructed in Mezali Kone Village in Pyinmana Township of Nay Pyi Taw.
A ceremony to inaugurate the construction process of the facility was held in the compound of Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation (MAPCO) Rice Complex at the Village on Wednesday morning. The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn and Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman as well as experts from India and officials.
The facility aims to produce value-added products using rice mill by-products, ensuring local edible oil sufficiency and penetrating international markets with new Myanmar Agri-products. It also facilitates understanding the use of Solvent Extraction Technology in producing edible oil, with extended application of this technology to other oil crops.
Moreover, the project could support the development of local livestock breeding and animal food enterprises, accelerating national food sufficiency procedures through sustainable Rice Value Chain development. Upon completion of construction, the successful operation of the mill will create local job opportunities and drive regional development.
