Full-moon day of Tazaungmon: SAC Chairman offers oil lamps, flowers and water

The Traditional Tazaungdaing Festival is held on the full-moon day of Tazaungmon, eighth month of Myanmar calendar. This year, on Monday, pagodas across the country were crowded with Buddhist devotees and pilgrims and hosted well-known traditional festive activity called robe-weaving competitions, known as Matho Thingan competitions.

As part of celebrations, people offer alms, candle lights, joss sticks, flowers and fruits as homage to the pagodas.At the Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe and high-ranking officials offered oil lamps, flowers and water to the Lord Buddha.

Also, roads, buildings and trees in the compound of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) were decorated with multiple colour lightings as the Tazaungdiang festival with the happy participation of families of the Offices of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air).
