Meeting on PWDs in Mon State: Mon State CM attended the meeting

Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein attended the meeting between Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities and Mon State Association of Persons with Disabilities held at the State Government Office in Mawlamyine Township in the afternoon on February 7.

First, the Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein in his capacity as the Chairman of Mon State Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities gave a remark saying the Mon State Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was formed with 20 members by the National Committee on January 31, 2023 with notification No (20/2023).

The Mon State Association of Persons with disabilities was formed on 13th May, 2019 to be able to carry out the matters of the persons with disabilities in the 10 Townships of Mon State. The population of persons with disabilities including 3200 men and 2463 women in Mon State was put into the Data Based System of the Ministry of Immigration and Population. The assistance for the development of the persons with disabilities will be provided in collaboration with Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities.

Next, the law and by-laws for the physical and mental development of the persons with disabilities were clarified by the chairman of Myanmar Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities U Thein Han Thu, the rights of the Persons with Disabilities and the socio-economic development by the Mon State Committee secretary and the Deputy Director of Mon State Social Welfare Department.

Then, the committee members and departmental officials reported the sector-wise requirements to be fulfilled for the persons with disabilities and the Chief Minister fulfilled the requirements and gave a speech of conclusion.
