In the early hours of Wednesday morning, the KNLA and PDF terrorists launched a coordinated assault on a local battalion, situated in Zayatkyi of Htantapin Township in Bago Region. At about 4:00 am, the terrorists initiated their attack from the northern, western, and southern fronts of the battalion, employing a combination of drop bombs, heavy and small firearms, supported by a sizable force.
Simultaneously, assaults were launched on security posts at Myo Hsoe and Hnatantku Bridges. Responding swiftly, military officers, personnel, and their families organized counter-attack. Reinforcements from the air force and heavy weapons supported the defense, with a reinforced unit arriving at the battalion by afternoon.
Utilizing intelligence gathered from vigilant citizens, precise strikes were executed on the terrorists' hideouts. With many casualties and injuries, the KNLA and PDF forces were compelled to retreat westward and northward by 2:00 pm. Throughout the engagement, members of the Tatmadaw displayed unwavering courage, with some making the sacrifice and others sustaining injuries.
The Tatmadaw seized the bodies of terrorists and captured weapons, continuing their counter-operation along the routes of retreat and implementing necessary security measures to ensure regional stability in Zayatkyi.
