3rd Regional Workshop: Packaging rules of ASEAN MRA-TP reviewed

The 3rd Regional Workshop on Reviewing and Updating Packaging Rules of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP) hosted by Myanmar was held at the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism on Tuesday through hybrid system.

At the event, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung said that the Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) is implementing as a work program for facilitating travel for tourism professionals, mutual recognition and arrangement.This program aims to enchance capacity building, exchange best practices and information on basic education and training, cooperation in ASEAN region and create opportunities for uplifting performance.

The 1st regional workshop was held in Yangon in 2019 and the 2nd workshop was held in June 2021 through online due to COVID-19 pandemic.The review and update of professional standards for ASEAN tourism professionals has been finalized and approved by the ASEAN Tourism Ministers at the ASEAN Tourism Forum-2022 held in Cambodia.

As the follow-up plans, the 3rd Regional Workshop is held to discuss preliminary findings as the skill-level packaging rules of hotel and tourism norms and to update qualification guidelines for individual occupation. The ASEAN Common Competency Standards For Tourism Professionals –ACCSTP reviewd the packing rules on hotel and tourism norms and progress of updating process.

Participants from 10 ASEAN member states also discussed occupations for hotel service, updating packaging rules of hotel and tourism norms for reception service, bedroom maintenance, food manufacturing and food and beverage service industries.

The 2nd day workshop will be held on Wednesday and the type of occupations on tourism service, travel agencies and updating of packaging rules depending on the skilled level will be discussed.
