Electricity Sector: Union Minister inspects substation construction

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun accompanied by Deputy Minister U Aye Kyaw and concerned officials inspected the task implementation of the 500 KV Kan Kaung Substation construction near the Mile Post No. 293 on the Yangon-Mandalay Road.

On arrival at the construction site, the Union Minister heard report on works undertaking and tasks for the construction of 500 KV Kan Kaung Substation and 500 KV Sapar Kywe Substation and coordinated necessities on timely completion of the project, to meet the set standards and safety of the employees.

Then, he presented fruit baskets to the employees of the project. Then, the Union Minister and party inspected the installation of transformers, Shunt Reactor, Hybrid Gas Insulated Switchgear (HGIS), construction of 500 KV switch Bay, 230 KV Switch Bay and control building and provided necessary instructions.

It’s learnt that , the Ministry of Electric Power is making concerted efforts to upgrade the power plants and substations for the better distribution of electricity across the nation. 500 KV Kan Kaung Substation is the very first 500 KV substation project in Myanmar and it will help to distribute the electricity generated in northern part of the country to the southern part fully.

Currently, 73.17% of the construction is completed and the whole project is targeted to complete in October 2024.
