Joint Cooperation: New Chinese TV series Launched On MRTV

Under joint TV broadcasting program between Guangxi Radio and Television of China and Myanma Radio and Television, the classical Chinese TV series, ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’ dubbed in Myanmar language began broadcasting on MRTV Monday, with an inauguration ceremony at MRTV Head-office in Nay Pyi Taw (Tat Kone).

At the event, Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint said that this kind of cooperation can help exchange of technology and experience between the two institutions and Myanmar audiences can enjoy variety of programs on MRTV.

This TV series is adapted from the novel of the same name written by Cao Xueqin in 1765, during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor. It is regarded as one of China’s Four Great Classical Novels. The story describes the life and social structures typical of 18th century Chinese society.

Director General, Guangxi Radio and Television, Huang Yu said “The Dream of Red Chamber” is a classical novel in China and this TV series was shot based on this novel. We hope…Myanmar people will understand more about traditional culture and customs of Chinese people through this program. We will continue to try hard to present more good Chinese TV series to Myanmar viewers through joint cooperation.”

TV series will offer insight into Chinese literature, culture and society to the Myanmar audience, official from MRTV said.

Acting Deputy Director-General (Admin), Myanma Radio and Television, Zeyar said “We hope this program will promote people to people connectivity of the two countries. We believe…Myanmar audience will study more about the history of China, their literature, ideas and thinking, their culture and society through this TV series. Moreover, it can foster deeper understanding and closer friendship between people of both countries.”

The project was achieved with fifteen MRTV voice actors, audio engineers from Guangxi Radio & TV and translators conducting the re-recordings in Myanmar and China. The TV series has 30 episodes and will be aired after 7 pm news programme every Monday and Tuesday on MRTV.
