Regional Meetings: Myanmar delegation attends the 29th ATM in Laos

Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo and delegation arrived back in Myanmar on 11th November, after attending the 29th ASEAN Transport Ministers (ATM) Meeting, 22nd ASEAN-China Transport Ministers Meeting, 21st ASEAN-Japan Transport Ministers Meeting, 14th ASEAN-ROK Transport Ministers Meeting and the Interface Meeting between ASEAN Tourism Ministers and ASEAN. Transport Ministers from 9th to 10th November in Luang Prabang of Lao PDR.
On 9th of November, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the opening ceremony of the 29th ATM Meeting together with the ministers from ASEAN member states. The ceremony began with the opening remarks of Mr. Ngampasong Muongmany, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Lao PDR.
Then, the meeting continued according to the agenda. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister gave a speech regarding with collaborative tasks to be implemented in 2024 for ASEAN transport sector, formulation of the procedures for the aviation safety of the ASEAN countries, implementation of the tasks under the ASEAN Sustainable Aviation Action Plan (ASAAP), signing amended MoU regarding ASEAN Highway Network, drafting policies for the development of the electric vehicles infrastructure, verification of the procedures to improve the operation of the ports and collaborative works among member states.
In the afternoon, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the 22nd ATM+China Meeting, where he made discussions on cooperation between ASEAN and China, implementation of the procedures in accordance with the road map and collaborative tasks for safety of maritime transport.
On the 10th, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the commemorative ceremonies of the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and the 20th Anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Transport Partnership.
Then, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the 21st ATM+Japan Online Meeting. At the 14th ATM+ROK Meeting, the Union Minister exchanged views on implementation of the projects and activities under the ASEAN-ROK Transport Cooperation Roadmap 2021-2025 and signing aviation agreements between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea.
In the afternoon, the Deputy Prime Minister joined the the Interface Meeting between ASEAN Tourism Ministers and ASEAN and discussed matters on forming of working groups for the development of the economic and tourism sectors of the ASEAN member states.
In the evening, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the Myanmar-Lao PDR Transport Ministers Meeting and exchanged views on drafting MoU for cross borders transportation, collaborative tasks to improve Mekong navigation channels and potential cooperation opportunities.
