Tipitaka examination: Diamond Jubilee Tipitaka examination opened

The opening ceremony for the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination was held at Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin Hall of the Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon on Monday.

The event was attended by State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaws led by Chairman Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhamo Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Kumara Bhivamsa, Sayadaws of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board, Members of the Sangha, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun, the departmental officials and invited well wishers.

First, the congregation led by Union Minister U Ko Ko received the Five Precepts from Vice Chairman of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board Hintha Township Moe Gaung Monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Thudhammasara, and listened to the Parittas recited by Members of the Sangha.

Afterwards, Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee delivered an Ovadakatha, followed by the Union Minister supplicating religious matters.

Then, Union Minister U Ko Ko, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Deputy Minister U Aye Tun and officials accepted the 89.48 million Kyats of cash donation donated by 24 well wishers to the two State Sangha Mahanayaka Sayadawgyis, Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Ovadacariya Sayadawgyis, Sayadaws of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board and the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida candidate Sayadaws and presented certificate of honor to the donors.

Next, the congregation listened to the sermon delivered by Yangon Region Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Sarthintaik Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, and shared the merits they gained.

Then, the Union Minister and officials paid homage to the candidate Sayadaws who will take the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination and offered cash donation to the member Sayadaws of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board at the ordination hall of the Maha Pasana Cave.

The Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family members offered meal at dawn and day meal to the Sangha as the fourth time.

The 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination which is kicked off on Monday will be held for 33 days from 26th December, 2022 to 27th January, 2023 at Maha Pasana Cave of the Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon and a total of 426 candidate monks will sit for the examination, it’s learnt.
