Tour in Shan State: Paying homage and offerings & Boat Race

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture, U Tin OoLwin, along with Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye and officials, paid their respects at the Sulamuni Lawka Chantha Pagoda and Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda in Taunggyi on Thursday.

During their visit, they made cash donations for all-round renovation of the pagodas. They then visited Minkun Monastery in Sao San Tun Ward, where they paid their respects to the Sayadaws led by the State Ovada Ceriya Sayadaw, and discussed various religious matters.

After receiving guidance and admonishments from the Sayadaws, the Union Minister and party offered Waso robes to the Sayadaws. During the occasion, 1,926 Buddha Images were presented to the Chief Minister for reverence of the Buddhist devotees in Shan State.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister enjoyed the Inle traditional boat race (Group Level) in NyaungShwe, commemorating the Procession of Inle Phaung Daw Oo Buddha Images. The winning teams were presented with prizes by the Union Minister and officials.

Eight teams, each with over 100 oars, and 46 oars participated in the boat race, along with the women's 26-oar event. The winning teams of the Group Level will compete in the final race on October 21st, coinciding with the commencement of the Procession.
