Valued-added bamboo products: Training on Sustainable Dev’t of Bamboo Innovation Products

Under Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2020), training on Sustainable Development of Bamboo Innovation Products in Mekong Region, organized by Department of Research and Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Technology launched in Yangon, Monday. ASEAN member states from Mekong region countries participate in the course.

Thin Thin Hlaing, Deputy Director, Department of Research and Innovation said “The training will provide sustainable development of bamboo innovation products for ASEAN countries in Mekong region. Moreover, the research, innovative products and technology can be provided to small and medium enterprises. So, the valued-added bamboo products can gain international market. It will support socio-economic improvement of the people and will have strengthening cooperation among the nations.”

The training and trainers of bamoo handicraft course and training on sustainable development of bamboo innovation products in Mekong Region are being conducted from 24th to 28th January. The experts from China are conducting the trainings via online.

Aung Lwin, Trainee said “We can produce more local products by using innovative idea. If we gain innovative technique, we can share knowledge to the local bamboo handicraft makers and we can expand our business.”

22 trainees are attending training and trainers of Bamboo handicrafts course and 40 trainees are attending training on Sustainable Development of Bamboo Innovation Products in Mekong Region.

Besides the course, Department of Research and Innovation displays the bamboo culture demonstration unit in cooperation with the Myanmar Bamboo Growers Association, aiming to show how the buildings can be constructed with bamboos through innovative way.
