76th Independence Day: Ceremonies to hoist and salute the State Flag held

Ceremonies to hoist and salute the State Flag to mark the 76th Independence Day were held in Nay Pyi Taw on 4th of January, 2024. The event took place in front of Nay Pyi Taw City Hall.

The flag hoisting platoon raised the State Flag at 4:20 am together with the ethnic races. The ceremony was organized with five national objectives of the 76th Anniversary of Independence Day – (1) To uphold “Our Three Main National Causes” — Non-disintegration of the Union, Non-disintegration of national solidarity and Perpetuation of sovereignty, which are national interests and national politics (2) To ensure the promotion of a comprehensive education sector that produces human resources with perfect abilities like intelligence, skills, and talents in building a Union based on democracy and federalism (3) To make efforts to hold free and fair elections under the law and ensure the right to vote across the nation (4) To foster public cooperation for state stability and strengthen the multiparty democratic system at the end of acts of terrorism (5) To promote agriculture and livestock-based MSMEs.

At 6 am, those present at the ceremony were Union Ministers, Union Auditor-General, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Chairman, senior military officers, Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, the Myanmar Constitutional Tribunal members, Union Election Commission members, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, Deputy Ministers, UCSB members, Deputy Governor of CBM, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, Anti-Corruption Commission members, departmental heads, staff members and national people.

At 7 am, the flag saluting ceremony was organized and the Guard of Honour (Tatmadaw Army, Navy and Air) marched to the City Square.

Next, Chairman of 76th Anniversary of Independence Day Ceremony Organizing Central Committee Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Thiri Phaychi Maha Thayay Sithu Soe Win took the salute of the Guard of Honour.  He then saluted the State Flag together with the Guard of Honour and attendees to the event.

The Guard of Honour also saluted the nation’s fallen leaders and soldiers and took the four-point oath. Afterwards, the Vice-Senior General read the message sent by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to the 76th Anniversary Independence Day.
