The Myanmar Now, one of the media outlets supporting the terrorist acts, disseminated the fabricated news. It reported the death of six locals and injury of seven others due to an explosion in downtown Kawlin, Sagaing Region, on January 2nd.

The reports alleged that the incident was caused by the launching of heavy weapons by a Wuntho-based battalion. According to the official, the Tatmadaw did not initiate a heavy weapon attack on Kawlin. Instead, terrorist groups targeted a military column engaged in a security operation, using heavy weapons, resulting in the explosion in a residential area. Similarly, Khit Thit and Mizzima media outlets spread fake news on social media platforms.

The reports alleged that two people, including a 3-year-old child, died, and five others were injured due to bomb attacks by the Tatmadaw using drones in Myauk Taung Village, Kyauk Taw Township, Rakhine State. The information was supposedly sourced from the AA Group.

However, an official refuted these claims, stating that the Tatmadaw did not launch bomb attacks or heavy weapons fire in the village. Instead, the official asserted that AA insurgent terrorists are responsible for attacking villages using heavy weapons and drones to disrupt administrative mechanisms and destabilize Rakhine State.
