Renovation of Kyun Kyaungtaw: A symbol of collaboration and preservation

Kyun Kyaungtaw  (Teak Monastery), donated by King Mindon to the first founder Sayadaw of the Shwekyin Sect in 1222 Myanmar Era, has been renovated by donors from Thailand and Myanmar. A ceremony for the completion of the renovation works took place at Maha Dhammikārāma Shwekyin Monastery in Mandalay on Sunday.

During the ceremony, a memorial statue of Pitawon Prontawon, the Chief Architect of the Thai Maintenance Team, and a stone inscription of the monastery in both Myanmar and English versions were unveiled. Moreover, those who contributed to the renovation process over 163 year’s historic structure with authentic preservation were honored by conferring medals.
