ASEAN-EU meeting: Combatting fake news and disinformation discussed

A meeting between the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights and the European Union regarding with fake news and disinformation was held at JEN Singapore Tanglin by Shangri-La  in Singapore at 9:30 AM local time on 29th January and was attended by Myanmar Ambassador/ charge d'affaires ad interim U Zaw Zaw Soe,  Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of InformationU Myint Kyaw, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Man Hauk Thang and Chairman of the Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe). 

At the meeting, Minister of Communications and Information of SingaporeMr. Tan Kiat How gave an opening speech, and Singaporean in-charge to AICHRDr. Shashi Jayakumar and EU Ambassador to ASEAN Mr.Sujiro Seam extended words of greeting.

The discussion was divided into 4 parts, and the effects of fake news on society, approaches of handling and controlling fake news, frank discussion of the representatives of the participating Southeast Asian countries and European countrie show to solve the experiencing difficulties due to the fake news, the discussions from different perspectives to combat the fake news and disinformation and spread the true news which need to address not only by individual country but also each every country of the world in the future. At 5 PM local time, the meeting was concluded.
