Development Efforts: Endeavours of progress in Khaunglanphu

Kachin State Government is striving for development of Khaunglanphu area in PutaO District in northernmost part of Myanmar. Plans have been made to use Magweza-Khaunglanphu Road to be all-weather facility.

Moreover, efforts are being made to export Sha Kaw, the major agriculture produce of Khaunglanphu, to China. Along with the improvement of transportation access, plans are underway to generate electricity, utilizing the hydropower from Ahtam Creek.

On 15th February, Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nanvisited Khaunglanphu, along PutaO-Naungmon Union Highway and Magweza -Khaunglanphu Road via Machanbaw -Naungmon Road. Along the routes, they observed cloud sea and natural landscapes on Inmwe Hill at Mile Post No.22, and the scenic nature, flow of Maykha River and ice-capping mountain peaks from 7,700 ft Hsanlutchat Hilltop. Along the Magweza-Khaunglanphu Road, the Road Department is undertaking the construction of 600 ft long Rehdam Bridge crossing Maykha River.

The Chief Minister and party inspected the construction progress, and coordinated the needs. Before proceeding to Khaunglanphu, they observed the Adet Waterfall View Point near Mile Post No.56, renovation of town signboard, landscaping works, and installation of sports gears.

On the 16th, the Chief Minister and party inspected construction of buildings at the extended wards,construction of retaining wall to prevent landslides, implementation for better drainage system and possibility to grow trees on the hill sides as well as construction of 2-storey Guest House.

In meeting with departmental personnel, community elders and officials from Agriculture and Livestock Associations, the Chief Minister urged all to strive for development of the region in cooperation with the government. During the meeting, cash assistance, paddy species, animal feeds and medicines were provided for the locals, departmental staff and breeders.
